Generally, if your head and feet are warm, your body stays warm.

So, making sure you child is wearing a good wool/fleece hat, gloves and good warm socks - along with waterproof shoes, is a must .

As temperatures drop and the winter brings more wind and rain, layering their clothing is another key to keeping warm and cosy.

Multiple thinner layers are often more effective than just a thick coat, as they trap layers of air, which act as an insulator.

  • 1st layer - Materials - wool or synthetic fabric such as polyester
  • 2nd layer - Materials - wool, down, or fleece
  • 3rd layer - Materials - a waterproof jacket or shell; outerwear that’s also breathable and lets the moisture out is a great choice.

Stevensons offer a range of scarves, hats, jackets and socks, that are just the job to keep the winter chill out.

Another good way of warming up is a nice hot drink, maybe a cup of cocoa for after school or a session of outside play at the weekend.
