Rio Medallists inspire the next generation

November 09, 2016

Tudor Hall school in Banbury was awash with current and former Women GB Olympians for their own ‘Women in Sport’ event. Sponsored by XXV Performance Sportswear, the 3-day event was organised to raise awareness of opportunities for women of all abilities and backgrounds to engage in sport, by taking part, volunteering or just experiencing the rush of live matches. Over 200 girls from local primary and prep schools took part in a hockey masterclass with Rio gold medalist Laura Unsworth, an athletics workshop with 4 x 400m bronze medalist Emily Diamond, a taekwondo demonstration with bronze medalist Bianca Walkden and gymnastics workshop with London bronze medalist Beth Tweddle.

Sam Killin, XXV Brand Manager, commented ‘It's great to see the next generation of potential sports stars being inspired by their heroes from London and Rio. But getting more girls interested in sport while they are at school is a practical and enjoyable way of tackling some of the other pressures in today's world.’
