Bucking the trend: local uniform retailer doubles workforce

August 05, 2013

In what is still an economy ’on the mend’ as chancellor George Osborne put it recently, Stevensons, headquartered in St. Albans, has bucked the trend and recruited more than 85 new members of staff, doubling its workforce.

Stevensons has been busy expanding its retail branches to four with two new branches in Oxford and Bournemouth, and additional manpower has been brought in ready for the busy Back to School Period. The 85 new staff have been welcomed into in all areas of the business including Sales, Finance, Marketing and HR at Uniform House, Stevensons Head Office, and seasonal customer service assistants have been recruited for each retail branch.

Mark Stevenson, Managing Director of Stevensons, commented: “It’s an exciting time to work within our progressive and expanding family business and I am delighted we are able to recruit such high quality staff from our local community."

Later this year Stevensons will also be opening a fifth branch in Reading. With the forthcoming closure of Jacksons of Reading after 137 years of trading, Stevensons has the privilege of becoming the uniform supplier to their 29 partner schools.
